Country Profile
Indonesia comprises of an incredible 17,508 islands spread either side of the equator. It is the fourth most populated country in the world with Jakarta as the capital and most populated city and it shares land borders with Malaysia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea. The country is a republic with an elected president.

The islands of Indonesia are world-renowned for their beaches. The surf culture of Lombok attracts travellers from all over the world who come to experience the hedonistic lifestyle. Away from the shores, there is a lot to explore - chaotic cities, dense jungle revealing stunning wildlife and haunting volcanoes.

The climate is entirely tropical which means that temperatures remain fairly constant and humidity and rainfall can fluctuate. The dry season runs from June to October and a rainy season from November to March. Given Indonesia's geographical location, the difference between the longest and shortest day is only 48 minutes.

International Schooling in Indonesia
Similar to many other developing regions of the world, British and IB curricula international schooling are on the rise. This is creating a demand for suitably qualified and experienced teachers and Indonesia competes with other regions of the world who can offer more inflated salaries.

At first glance the salaries on offer to international teachers in Indonesia do not seem generous. When taking into account the low-cost of living and free accommodation, teachers can enjoy a good level of living and take advantage of affordable travel between islands as well as elsewhere in Asia.

Teachers who relocate to Indonesia enjoy the experience. We recommend that teachers look beyond salaries quoted by different parts of the world and factor in living costs, other benefits on offer and opportunities for sports and leisure activities which are often dictated by weather.

Typical Salary & Benefits
- Salaries average between US$1,500 - US$2,800 per month
