With warmer weather and an appetite for sports, this part of the world attracts the outdoors type. From the harbours of Sydney to the mountains of New Zealand, all types of terrain are covered.
Although the international schooling community is much smaller than other parts of the world there are opportunities in Australia, New Zealand and neighbouring Pacific islands. Teachers from the UK and Ireland will find similarities between curricula and the availability of visas means that there are also opportunities to work within the state sector.
Teaching in Australia and New Zealand offers a similar relative level of pay to that in the UK. The academic year commences in February and ending in December in time to enjoy their summer. As both countries are divided into states, there can be some differences in term times determined by each state department.
